Thanks for this update. I'll hold off on testing rc1 until I hear back
from you.
No, please go ahead and test. There won't be any more changes related to
the CMake issues in 1.3.6, it's all finished now.
The only relevant changes you should expect compared to 1.3.5 are the
renamed macOS framework and the new "backwards compatible" setting of
FLTK_INCLUDE_DIR in *CONFIG* mode as you expect in your app (at least
that's what I remember).
Note: as with 1.3.5 there will likely be no next 1.3 version (1.3.7) -
unless there are really serious bugs. But you never know... ;-)
I hope that we can solve the find_package() issue differently.
Not sure what to do about that Debian ugliness. Does the package
identify the packager? Perhaps it is worth looping them in on the
pending changes.
The packager is known and I remember that he filed some STR's and was
helpful in the past. I could contact him but I don't want to do this
before I have a working new version or at least a clear concept to discuss.
Somebody had to think that was a good idea -- and perhaps they had an
idea what to do if / when the world was a better place.
Yes, maybe. Or maybe not.

provide a new FindFLTK.cmake module *now*. As you may have seen FLTK
1.3.6rc1 is now released.
However, I modified our FLTKConfig.cmake file slightly so it returns
both 'FLTK_INCLUDE_DIRS' (plural, the new and "correct" naming AFAICT)
and the "old" variable 'FLTK_INCLUDE_DIR' (singular, as in
FindFLTK.cmake) for compatibility.
