Wow, thank you very, very much for your deep analysis and patch proposals. I'm currently not able to check and test this now (too busy) but someone (maybe me) will take a look at this.

For an IME noob (I remember testing this years ago on Windows): do you have any IME preferences / recommendations for me (us) to test with? What do you use? IIRC I have fcitx installed but not currently enabled. I'm mostly using Linux, do you have any hints? TIA.
