On OSX, a FL_RELEASE event is generated when releasing the mouse button on the title bar (for example when moving the window). This is (apparently) expected for FL_PUSH cases (it's filtered out), but not for FL_RELEASE.

Also, is it ever possible to receive a FL_RELEASE event without a pushed() widget (like this case)? I've fixed it trivially that way, by loosening a check in Fl.cxx without experiencing any difference in fluid or any demo.
