I added fltk-admin in the test directory that works as a command line app and as a GUI app with pretty much the same abilities as the old FLUID implementation.
@MatthiasWM Great, awesome, wonderful! This was really needed.
I didn't test it yet but I will do as soon as possible.
One thing came to mind recently: ISTR that running Wayland GUI programs with root permission is not allowed and tried it [1]. I conclude that we definitely need a commandline tool to set system preferences/options. It's great that we will get one for other reasons as well (e.g. scripting system setup). Thanks!
[1] I tried sudo fluid and it launched the X version of fluid whereas just fluid runs the Wayland version of the X11/Wayland hybrid build. If I disable X11 (e.g. unset DISPLAY ) sudo fluid doesn't start (error message Can't open display ) as expected. The commandline version (fluid -c ... ) works even with sudo (qed).
