rm -rf *.o

    Just an aside; I'd strongly suggest changing "rm -rf *.o" to just "rm -f *.o".

    You don't need/want a (r)ecursive remove when removing .o files;
    that can be dangerous if some file that matched had spaces in the filenames
    or some such - if it somehow matched a directory, it'd wipe the directory
    too, and everything below it.
