Hah! I'd caution that just because the vocabulary seems similar, that does not mean it's the same language! :-)
FWIW, I don’t think there's a "best" name for this, so we'd have to describe the behaviour in the docs anyway!
I quite fancy:
fl_override_scale() paired with fl_restore_scale()
Just to add extra confusion to the discussion.
What I'm trying to *imply* (with these names) it that this is a "temporary" change of the display scale, if you see what I mean...
