@Albrecht-S : Hmm, as for the Vendor/Application naming, it's kind of arbitrary anyway. Users can read how the filename is created and set Vendor and Application accordingly. I find the XDG approach too simple, Fluid, for example, is also the name of a web browser, and for several fluid simulations.

I'll be happy to put the user data into the config directory. Less work for me. And only one mv to copy all preferences and data into the new system.
