Your example above relies on the definition of a new class: MyTreeItem , which inherits from Fl_Tree_Item . This allows you to extend Fl_Tree_Item to define the custom event handler. However, Rust's OO model does not support inheritance, so there isn't really a way for me to effectively extend the Fl_Tree_Item . The binding does provide workarounds for other classes such as Fl_Widget and Fl_Group , but there isn't any specifically for Fl_Tree_Item -- named TreeItem in the binding.
