Looks like @AshfordN is trying to do a combo of things:
- Content in a tree
- Column alignment of data within the items, similar to my old tree with columns example
- Icons within the item that can respond to events (toggle, invoke a callback..)
I'd guess avoiding using FLTK widgets within the item for speed/efficiency of really large trees might be best, in which case some event handling within the items might be best. This can probably best be done by overloading Fl_Tree::handle() to deliver events to items. I believe there's sufficient methods exposed in the API to do that.
