What I found is my MS C V1.00 compiler doesn't have opendir/readdir, lol. Or at least I don't have the include files for them.

In those days it wasn't unusual for the compiler to be missing critical unix-y function calls, and it was common to have to implement unix-y libc functions on your own using int 21h function calls, and looks like this would be one of those cases.
