Did you notice the error report from Bob Tolbert about:

    /Users/bob/build/fltk-1.3.6rc1/version:1:1: error:

    ...
    expected unqualified-id
    1.3.6
    ^

It seems clear to me that this is caused by our file named VERSION in
the FLTK root directory which I asked Bob to rename and build again.

New build on another system: macOS 11.3 with M1 processor:
this time, I get the error mentionned above, and indeed the error
disappears when file VERSION is renamed.

Thanks for confirmation.

I just started the upgrade from 11.2.3 to 11.3 on my MacBook Air (M1). I didn't experience this problem on my own system with 11.2.3, and the upgrade will take a while before I can test the new version.

Do you have an idea what could have caused the difference?

I've seen that has been fixed already in the git repository.

Yes, I committed the fix quickly because we have the same fix in 1.4 already.

Besides this, both configure-based and CMake-based builds run OK.

Thanks for your feedback.
