I'd like to have this either resolved or at least analyzed so far that we can say there's no real problem, other than one with improper allocation of static objects and destructor execution order or something like that. I'm not sure by any means if this is the case, but ... let's see.
Therefore I added this issue to the 1.4.0 milestone. Note that it may be removed again in the future.
