Oops, I just posted a reply on your previous post...

Depends on your linker's policy on linkage etc... The gcc default is
that order matters, whereas some (the VC one used to) will rescan all
the libs until the links are resolved. I *think* there's an option to
the gcc linker to cause it to rescan too, but it is generally better
to just get the libs in the right order in the first place, as that
gives you better control over what links to what... (For example: In
principle you can use this to link in different versions of functions
with the same name, e.g. to replace some standard function, by
controlling the linking order...)
