[fltk/fltk] macOS 15.7 (Sequoia) build fails with linker errors on Intel due to SDK version mismatch (Issue #1602) FF1683 07:23 Sep 05

FF1683 created an issue (fltk/fltk#1602)

Description of the Bug Report
Building FLTK 1.4.4 on macOS Sequoia 15.7.9 (Intel) fails during linking with multiple issues:

  1. Numerous linker warnings about object files built for macOS 15.7 being linked with macOS 15.0
  2. Undefined symbols errors for Objective-C classes in Cocoa framework:
    • _OBJC_CLASS_$_SCContentFilter
    • _OBJC_CLASS_$_SCScreenshotManager
    • _OBJC_CLASS_$_SCShareableContent
    • _OBJC_CLASS_$_SCStreamConfiguration

This results in a failed build with no executable produced.

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. macOS Sequoia 15.7.9 on Intel
  2. FLTK 1.4.4 (standard configuration)
  3. Build with CMake configuration as shown in the Configuration Summary
  4. Run compilation with: sudo g++ -std=gnu++11 -g -I/usr/local/include -D_LARGEFILE_SOURCE -D_LARGEFILE64_SOURCE -D_THREAD_SAFE -D_REENTRANT -o /users/ffff2/Cpp/FLTK/GaussAppel/GaussAppel /users/ffff2/Cpp/FLTK/GaussAppel/*.cpp -I /users/ffff2/Cpp/FLTK/Include /usr/local/lib/libfltk.a -lpthread -framework Cocoa

Expected behavior
The executable should be built successfully without linker warnings or undefined symbol errors.

FLTK Version

  • Version: 1.4.4
  • Downloaded and self-built from: Git (or tarball)
  • Build configuration: Standard configuration

FLTK Configure / Build Options
See Configuration Summary screenshot for full details:

  • Build configuration: Debug
  • Installation prefix: /usr/local
  • Static libraries will be built
  • Shared libraries will not be built
  • OpenGL support: Yes
  • Test programs: Enabled

Operating System / Platform:

  • OS: macOS
  • OS Version: macOS Sequoia 15.7.9
  • Processor: Intel

Additional context
The issue appears to be related to SDK version mismatch between the FLTK library objects (built for macOS 15.7) and the deployment target (macOS 15.0). The undefined Objective-C symbols suggest missing framework linkage or incompatibility with the ScreenCaptureKit framework classes on this version of macOS.
