Thank you so much for your help. Changing from Fl_Window to Fl_Group did the trick. I don't think I would have figured this out on my own.
Your FLTK Cheat pages are a tremendous resource. Thanks for creating and posting them. Without them, I wouldn't have had a clue about how to get started with this. Thanks also for moderating the forum.
About the +1/-1 offsets on the yellow borders: without any +1 or -1, I get a yellow outline on two sides of the box only, the right and bottom. The way I had it (with the lopsided offsets) just fixed the top and left sides that weren't drawn (on linux, anyway) without disturbing the two sides that were drawn. I'll try again tomorrow on Windows.
