FLTK 1.1.7 does not give GNOME a shortcut for fluid.  It instead places one in /usr/share/applnk (which only works for KDE).  Putting a shortcut in /usr/share/applications would be the suggested fix.

Additionally, the icon cache isn't updated properly.  dh_icons should be run in debian/rules.

The missing shortcut probably affects every Linux distro w/ GNOME.  Missing icon cache probably does as well.

See Ubuntu bug for suggested fix and more details: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/fltk1.1/+bug/139980

I read your web site which deals with patching your distribution system to set up FLTK correctly. Unfortunatly I did not find a solution that I could patch directly to FLTK, solving your problems once and for all.

Please understand that I am not able to find the correct way to solve this issue for all existing KDE-base distros. Any help from your side is greatly appreciated.

Oh, and PS: the FLTK sample file do install three games: Sudoku, Checkers, and Block Attack.

/usr/share/applications works correctly for both GNOME and KDE (I can't seem to find any precise reference of when KDE added support for this standard menu path). I'm attaching a simple diff against the Makefiles to change the path.

As for the icon cache, we can't hack-in distribution specific code. My suggestion would also be to remove the spec file (and follow the debian recommendation of not shipping any distribution specific stuff in the source itself), as I suspect distributions will roll their own anyway.
