Hello!
After using search facility of fltk.org if I go to another section of the forum then I get another search result in that section.
For example:
Type a word in the forum search bar, press search.
After this try to go to another section of the forum. You should notice that you get another search result.

By the way, maybe would be better to use another forum solution (like phpbb)?

I don't manage the web page, but I tried to replicate this:

1) Went to the forum page:
   http://www.fltk.org/newsgroups.php

2) Clicked on fltk.general -> View

3) In search bar, searched for 'window', got 2271 matches.

4) Hit 'All Forums' above search bar to switch to different forum
   ('window' still in search bar) and saw all matches for 'window'
   in all forums.

5) Clicked on fltk.development ('window' still in search bar),
   now see list of messages that match 'window'.

This behavior seems OK.

Well. I still think that this is not normal.
If I use the search bar I expect it to show results for a keyword search just after I press Search button. If further I navigate away from search results to threads it means I am not interested anymore in those results. Nor do I try to search something, otherwise I would use search bar again.

Perhaps I'm missing something.

From what I can tell you mentioned doing a search, and then clicking down into reading the threads, and apparently it's when you "navigate away" that you're seeing the problem.

But there's several ways to navigate away; you can hit the "Back" button, "Forums" tab, "All Forums" link, "Back to xxx" link.

Only the Back button and the 'Back to xxx' seems to preserve the search, the others seem to clear the search field out.

Are you saying its the 'Back to xxx' that is the problem?

If that's not it, please provide precise steps that cite the actual link names being clicked on, as sometimes the path one takes into the forms affects the behavior differently.

Actually, looks like "All Forums" preserves the search as well.
The "Forums tab" is the one that clears the search. (easy to mistake the two)

Seems like the navigation tree is confusing; it seems to go like this:

 FLTK
   \
   Forums
     \
     Search
       \
       List of matches for all forums
         |
         |--- 1) "Forums" tab      --> clears search
         |--- 2) "All Forums" link --> does not clear search
         |--- [List of forums that match]
               \
                View particular forum/newsgroup
                 \
                  List of matches for this group
                  |
                  |---  3) "Forums" tab      --> clears search
                  |---  4) "All Forums" link --> does not clear search
                  |---  5) "Sort by date"    --> does not clear search
                  |--- View a message
                        \
                        [Message is displayed]
                          |--- 6) "Forums" tab --> clears search
                          |--- 7) "All Forums" --> doesn't clear search
                          |--- 8) "Back to xxx" --> doesn't clear search

..and I'm guessing the request is only regarding the "All Forums" link behavior is wrong? (#2, #4 and #7) since if one wanted those behaviors, they could use the 'Back' button.

OK. Now I would say that this is pretty logic. :-)
However, it is confusing.

I mean that the forum structure seems logical now but yes, my request was regarding the All Forum. I think there is no point in changing that anymore. :-)
