Article #366: What are the Versions of FLTK?
Created at 07:59 Jan 29, 2005 by mike
There are three main branches of FLTK:
- FLTK 1.0.x retains binary compatability with
the most common versions of FLTK that have been
distributed. Except for bug fixes, no development work
is being done on this branch.
- FLTK 1.1.x contains many of the enhancements
(image labels, tooltips, file chooser, editor, default
appearance) that were made for FLTK 2.0, but retains
source-code (but not binary) compatability with FLTK
1.0. This is the current supported version of FLTK.
- FLTK 2.0 is a major rewrite to support
theming (changing the attributes of many widgets at
once), new menu and browser structures, and a new
multi-device drawing model. All new development work is
being done here. Currently you can only get 2.0 through
CVS. We believe it is stable enough for production work,
but binary compatability between any snapshot of the 2.0
CVS is not guaranteed right now, so you should
statically link your applications.
